A Pickup Truck From BMW
Okay, okay, you can stop laughing now. Just the thought of a BMW being used to haul cargo around town would cause most people to smirk. Yeah, it's unlikely. However, this is not stopping a group of students at Clemson University's International Centre for Automotive Research. Here, as part of the school's Deep Orange project, engineering students' creativity was tapped, as they proposed next-generation products, including a Bimmer pickup truck. It wasn't just based on the whims of idealistic students. The German automaker's engineering, marketing and finance departments took interest in the pickup version of the BMW X3, and directed the team's efforts. Their goal was to design a vehicle that could be capable of hauling potted orange trees in the back, without losing typical BMW characteristics like performance, ride, and luxurious interior. All materials or parts used had to have BMW's approval too. More

BMW i3 Is Expensive, But A Lot Of Fun
The word "fun" is not usually used in the same sentence as "electric car." For the most part, they seem to be mutually exclusive. There are exceptions, namely the Tesla Model S, but they are few and far between. Actually, the variety of electric cars is slim to begin with, there aren't many options to choose from, especially if you don't have pockets deep enough to handle that Tesla. If you're not planning to go very far and have little cargo or few passengers, there's always the Nissan Leaf. There isn't much between the Leaf and the Tesla though, at least until now. BMW's i3 is a little less upmarket than the Tesla, and a little more than the Leaf. The i3 is not your typical BMW, it's a completely different car in every way. From a looks perspective, the only thing it retains from it's heritage is a kidney-shaped grille and great headlamps. It's a little goofy looking, not at all like it's kin with odd proportions and a strange looking back window curve. The i3's boxy shape makes it easy to fit passengers of various sizes. It looks like a concept car, complete with suicide doors. Inside, there is a lot of carbon-reinforced plastic, which is both strong and lightweight. Most materials are recycled, allowing the car to reach carbon-neutral status. The interior has a unique textured feel, and the dash is quite low, allowing for great visibility. More

The BMW X7 - Beemer Gets Bigger
Is your Beemer getting too cramped? The X5 too small for you? BMW just announced the largest ever SUV to be added to their range. Beemer is getting bigger! Last week, BMW announced plans to build an X7 model SUV in the near future, a 4x4 that will be the largest SUV the company has made to date. It will be built at the company's South Carolina plant, where the other members of the X model range are built. BMW is investing one billion dollars in the plant by 2016. Their plans to boost production from 300,000 vehicles to 450,000 vehicles annually will make it BMW's largest production facility in the world. More

2015 BMW Active Tourer 2 Series- A German Van
BMW has shown us similar concepts before. The Active Tourer concept and the Active Tourer Outdoor concept came close to hitting the production line, judging by their completed silhouettes and the interest they have generated. Today we know that the production version of the 2 Series Active Tourer will be launched in Europe and North America. One of the surprises is that it is a 2 series, since BMW's numbering system generally assigns even numbers to coupes or convertibles. This crossover is a front wheel drive compact, a practical family car with luxurious fittings and dynamic qualities that surpass all other vehicles in it's category. There is not much competition for this behemoth here, but it could come up against the Mercedes-Benz B-Class. The man behind it's styling is Domagoj Dukec, formerly of Citroen. More
